Kannappa's love song is an unromantic bedroom song

When Nagarjuna's Annamayya was released three decades back, Ele Ele Maradala was initially seen as jarring by many. What was such an unabashed love song doing in an out-and-out devotional film, many asked. But K Raghavendra Rao's aesthetic eventually came to be appreciated because the nature of the romance didn't cross into the sensual zone.

Looks like Manchu Vishnu, the hero and writer of Kannappa, watched that Annamayya song and drew the wrong lessons. The 'Love Lyrical' from the devotional adventure action movie is patently unromantic. Its lyrics are strictly meant for bedroom songs. Shot on Vishnu and Preity Mukundan, the song shows desire and lust more than pure love. "Is Vishnu making Kannappa or something else?" a Netizen wrote.

Kannappa's Teaser 2, released recently, was a flop. "The production design feels artificial. The costumes, in particular, appear too basic. Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggarwal, as divine characters, look more human than before," we wrote in our review of the Teaser. Produced by Mohan Babu, the film has been directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh.
