Thalapathy Vijay has a Fatwa against him. A Bareily-based Islamic body has accused the actor-politician of insulting the Muslim community by linking it to terrorism in The Beast, his 2022 movie which became a disaster.

The Fatwa also says that Vijay invited rowdy elements to his March 8th Iftar party in Chennai. The party during the Ramzan season received widespread publicity, with his die-hard fans finding him absolutely cute wearing a skull cap.

As per the Muslim body, Muslims must not support Vijay owing to these two reasons.

The Beast, directed by Nelson Dhilipkumar, was set in a shopping mall. When the mall is held hostage by a group of Jihadis, Vijay's character takes it upon itself to save the hostages. Terrorists in the film are dumber than the average villain in most Tamil movies.

Vijay is currently doing Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth. It will be released on January 9, 2026.
