Sensational director Ram Gopal Varma has directed a film titled ‘Killing Veerappan’ on Sri Krishna Creations, GR Pictures and JD Productions banners. The movie has a powerful star cast like Shivarajkumar (eldest son of Dr. Rajkumar), multilingual actress Parul Yadav, national award winning actor Sanchari Vijay, and NSD graduate Sandeep Bharadwaj. While Shivarajkumar and Parul Yadav have portrayed the characters that trapped the forest brigand, Sandeep will be seen as Veerappan. BV Manjunadh, E Sivaprakash and BS Sudhindra are releasing the film in Telugu as producers. On this occasion, the film unit as arranged press meet on Sunday i.e. on November 22.

Speaking at the press meet, Ram Gopal Varma said, “’Killing Veerappan’ explores the circumstances that led to the death of the notorious brigand at the hands of the police after tormenting Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for over four decades through crimes. I’ve always been fascinated by the story of Veerappan, and have been waiting to make a film on his life. I’ve approached Veerappan’s wife Muttu Lakshmi. I researched on the script perfectly and working on this project is really a different experience. Thousands of police personnel were on his trail for years. I’ve met all the police personnel who were part of that trail and collected some information. I’ve made this film based on the incidents what I felt was real. But only one man could kill him. My story will focus on that one individual. Veerappan was the most dangerous villain ever. He was born and brought up in forest. He had no terrorist support and had no ideology. The film is not about the dreaded smuggler, but is based on the man who killed him.

Veerappan had abducted Dr. Rajkumar, the greatest film star of the Kannada film industry. The kidnapping episode is considered as one of the biggest crises in the history of Karnataka. I’ve cast Shivrajkumar for that particular reason. I can’t find anybody more dreaded and dangerous than Veerappan. The governments of Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Kerala spent crores to capture him. But only one man could kill him. My story will focus on that one individual. The movie was shot extensively in the real locations i.e. in the jungles of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Sandeep Bharadwaj, who played the tile role, looks very simple. But makeup men Vikram from Mumbai did very hard work to show him like Veerappan. Entire credit goes to Vikram. We are planning to release the film in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada languages on December 4th.”

Producers BV Manjunadh, E Sivaprakash and BS Sudhindra said, “We are thankful to Ram Gopal Varma for supporting us to release the film in Telugu. We are extremely confident that ‘Killing Veerappan’ will impress everyone.”
