'Gadar' would have eaten up 'Lagaan', suggests Aamir Khan

'Lagaan' has turned 20 today. On 15 June 2001, the film headed to theatres and clashed with Sunny Deol-starrer 'Gadar'.

Interacting with the media, Aamir Khan has recalled those days and said that he knew 'Gadar' would become a hit but he didn't expect it to become a monster hit. "The producer of 'Gadar' had told me the outline of the story before its release. I was sure the film would do well. But I didn't imagine its scale would be massive. Had 'Lagaan' been even one percent less of a film, it would have flopped. People watched 'Gadar' by traveling on trucks," Aamir Khan said.

'Gadar' collected more than 'Lagaan' and it was a bigger film by a huge margin in terms of box-office collections.
