Krithi Shetty awaits the theatrical release of 'Macherla Niyojakavargam' on August 12. In this interview, she talks about the film, her character in it, working with Nithiin, her upcoming projects, whether she likes to make a Bollywood debut, her biggest inspiration in life, and more.
My first three movies came to me even before 'Uppena' was released in theatres. I am fortunate and must thank my directors for offering me beautiful roles. I am young and new. I love to work and if I don't have work on a day, I sort of feel guilty!
After listening to a script, I write notes on my character. If I am confused about something, I reflect on it. At the end of the day, we make films for the audience. If something goes wrong, it will become a learning experience. I have no regrets. I enjoyed doing 'The Warriorr' because its director N Lingusamy has been my favourite since I watched 'Awara'. I got to work with him, someone like Ram Pothineni sir and a good production house. It's an amazing experience.
My character in 'Macherla Niyojakavargam' is naive and innocent. She is an effortless girl. Some people are beautiful from within and the inner beauty reflects in their outer personality. She is such a girl. In the average commercial movie, the heroine doesn't have much screen time. 'Macherla..' is different.
Since I am the youngest one in the unit, everyone took good care of me. They would send me food and sweets. It was a lovely atmosphere.
This is the quickest I okayed the project. I sensed that this is the kind of movie the family audience would watch with enthusiasm. There is a political element, there are nice performances, good comedy and awesome action. It's a complete package.
Nithiin has been in the industry for two decades. He is a genuine person who is also innocent. He is as fresh as he was in his first movie, 'Jayam'.
I am doing Suriya sir's movie directed by Bala sir. About 30% of the shoot is over. I am also doing Naga Chaitanya's movie directed by Venkat Prabhu. Both are bilinguals. 'Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali', starring Sudheer Babu and directed by Mohankrishna Indraganti, is among my other upcoming movies and I am playing a strong female character in it. And this one is a very good love story that doesn't have typical commercial scenes. A few more projects are in the pipeline. I am being balanced.
I want to be a versatile actress, playing a variety of roles regardless of the screentime of my role. The audience should trust me as an actor who picks good scripts. After 'Uppena', I received a few roles that are too mature for me. I rejected them.
I am a lucky professional. I am grateful for the kind of projects I am getting. I did 'Shyam Singha Roy' to prove that I can do a modish role. 'Uppena' had me in a different sort of role. I have become more selective of late. Now that I have gained some experience and the trends are changing, I have to select the best scripts. Quality is very important.
A few offers have come my way from Bollywood but I am happy with what I am doing right now. I am receiving so much love down South in Telugu and Tamil. For that matter, I am not thinking about the long-term.
I have been wanting to start an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization). I might launch an NGO someday.
My mother has been my biggest inspiration in life since when I was a kid. She is my best friend, and she is the most hard-working person I have come across in my life.
