A press meet for Ram Gopal Varma's Shiva 2006 was held in the city's Tabla Restaurant wherein the film's hero Mohit, writer and Executive producer Kona Venkat and fight masters Ram Lakshman spoke about the film. The Telugu version of the film is due for release on the 14th of this month.
"Initially Nagarjuna was approached to do Shiva 2006" Executive producer Kona Venkat said "Ram Gopal Varma asked Nagarjuna to portray Shiva's role for the Telugu version of Shiva 2006. He also wanted another person to direct the film in both Telugu and Tamil. But Nagarjuna said that only Ram Gopal Varma can do justice to the film and the idea of making a Telugu version was dropped. After seeing the Hindi film with the Mohit as the hero, Ram Gopal Varma was convinced that the film should be dubbed into Telugu. Like wise Tamil producer Kalaipuli Thanu bought the films rights and will be releasing the Tamil version of the film on 29th September with the title Udayam." Speaking about fight masters Ram Laxman he said "Ram Gopal Varma was so impressed by their work in Shock that he decided to introduce them to the Hindi Film Industry with Shiva 2006".
"Shiva 2006 is about the corrupt police system in Mumbai and the underworld" Hero Mohit said speaking about his role in the film "I play the role of a honest cop who fights the corruption within the system." He also said that he will be portraying the role of Jai (originally played by Amitabh Bachchan) in the remake of Sholay being made by Ram Gopal Varma.
Thanking Ram Gopal Varma for introducing them to the Hindi Film Industry fight masters Ram and Lakshman said "We are very lucky to be part of this film. Ram Gopal Varma has got the best out of us and we in turn learned a lot from him. We would also like to thank Raju master for the guidance he provided us with during the making of Shiva 2006 and also Suman and Kona Venkat. Mohit has a very good physique. His body language during the fight shots is amazing".
