“I would accept an Oscar for an American film of mine” Kamal Hassan At a press meet held in Hotel Taj Krishna National Award winning actor Kamal Hasan down played his feat of portraying 10 different roles in the same film.

“I personally don’t think of it as a great achievement. Any actor with enough dedication and concentration could have done what I did. In the olden days an actor was called a Bahurupi and that is what I have tried to do in this film. I am thankful that I got such wonderful producer and director who made this possible.”

On the religious and legal hurdles that the film faced prior to its release “Did you find anything offensive in the film? Dasavataram is like regurgitation of history. Satyame Sivam is a failed Dasavataram. Dasavataram is a successful Satyame Sivam. Only when the legal hurdles had started did I realize that I wanted to make this film for the past two decades.”

On director Ravi Kumar “He will soon become the number one director in India. Can you think of any politician who would take Rs 40 crores and double it up in 2 years? Ravi Kumar can do that.”

On the film’s two leading ladies, Asin and Mallika Sherawat “I did not get much footage with Mallika but I like the scene where my character puts a dot on her fore head. Asin’s character is much more glamorous through out the film”.

On President Bush’s remark that Indians are greedy rice eaters “He should realize that Americans have turned rice eaters and that they are eating more and more rice than us”.

What next? “Marmayogi is my immediate next venture. After that I will hopefully get enough money to make my film Marudhanayagam.”
