Leader Success Meet

Sekhar Kammula’s latest film introducing Rana as ‘Leader’ under AVM Productions banner is still being screened in theaters successfully. On this eve a success meet was organized on Wednesday at Film Nagar Cultural Center, Hyderabad.

D Suresh Babu, Venkatesh, Sekhar Kammula, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Richa Gangopadhyay, Priya Anand, Aswini Dutt, VV Vinayak, MS Raju, Ramesh Prasad, Parachuri Brothers, B Gopal, Harshvardhan, Chinni Krishna, etc., participated in the success meet.

Addressing the media Venkatesh said, “I first of all would like to thank AP people and the film industry for receiving the films from our family heroes Rana and Naga Chaitanya. I wish that their hard work will definitely take them to great heights. When Rana was doing this film every one commented that he is making a experiment. But Sekhar Kammula prepared the write script and made an honest and sincere film. I used to meet Sekhar during the time of post productions. When I watched the rushes I found that this film would definitely reach the audience and our Rana has proved himself.”

Sekhar Kammula said, “The entire credit for the success of ‘Leader’ goes to AVM Productions. Without any restrictions on the budget they have given me complete freedom to direct this film. Although Rana comes from a big family background he never showed that attitude and gave his performance without any such pressure. Just like Varun Sandesh in ‘Happy Days’, is Rana in ‘Leader’. This is the best film of all films so far that I made. So I prayed to God to make it a big hit. I love India and this film came from that patriotic love. I discussed about why our country is not developing. My purpose of making this film is to make the people get the feeling even they do not change. If at all people get such feelings in future they may atleast remember that a person called Sekhar Kammula also conveyed the same through his film. I conveyed to people in what kind of dirty society we are living. I want them discuss about ‘Leader’ and think to eradicate the crime that is occurring in present circumstances. One thing that I noticed is the mass audience who do not prefer to watch my films are also watching it. Apart from them, the noted film personalities, politicians and public servants are also watching the film and very soon our Chief Minister is also going to watch. I’m happy to note that Prakash Raj gave his opinion in a press meet. Ramoji Rao garu also opined that one should have guts to take such films, Mohan Babu garu sent a bouquet and not to speak of Chiranjeevi garu who was surprised to know about my awareness in politics. What else do I need more than these compliments?”

Parachuri Gopalakrishna said, “I appreciate Suresh Babu for introducing his son through a political film. When I went through the script itself, I through that this film would be a legendry film. I’m yet to watch the film. I heard that the film has not a single drop of blood. I want to talk more on 100 days function, but before that I would definitely watch the film.”

“It is a good experiment by Sekhar Kammula who took the present political issues and directed it with a new hero. He not only presented the film in style but also left the message to audience in the end”, opined Parachuri Venkateswara Rao.

VV Vinayak said, “I like Sekhar Kammula a lot because he is as special as director Bapu. One needs to have guts to direct a film on political backdrop even without a single drop of blood. Since I like calling Rana as Ramanaidu, I suggested Suresh Babu to mention his name in titles as Rama Naidu and from that name the hero’s name ‘RaNa’ should come in the title. All characters are very lively in this film, especially Subba Raju, who did a wonderful job in this film. The director had extracted the maximum talent from him which none of us (directors) did. Many heroes including that of Venketesh might have felt jealous for not doing one such wonderful film.”

Ramesh Babu while speaking, “I’ve watched ‘Leader’ in Prasad’s IMAX many times. To direct a film like ‘Leader’ is not an easy task. Sekhar is a very sincere, committed and dedicated person who introduced a promising hero to the industry. Just like Raj Kapoor’s family, Rama Naidu’s family too witnessed three generations in the film industry.”

Kota Srinivas Rao said, “While speaking about Rana, Sekhar said that the lead role in ‘Leader’ is an aptly suitable one for Rana and Rana too performed with great ease. Like Amitabh Bachchan, Rana too did this film and proved his talent. He has a very bright future. The way Sekhar portrayed the beautiful Godavari river in his film ‘Godavari’, he portrayed the present politics in ‘Leader’. He is such a talented director that few scenes are really heart touching ones.”
