Dhookudu 50 Days Function

The sensational hit film ‘Dookudu’ in the combination of Mahesh Babu-Sreenu Vaitla-14 Reels Entertainment banner has completed 50 days run on the prominent date 11.11.11. ‘Dookudu’ was released in 1600 centres and completed 50 days in 312 centers with magnificent record breaking box-office collections. While ‘Pokiri’ rewrote the history of 75 years of Telugu film industry, ‘Dookudu’ surpassed it in 80 years of Telugu film industry by completing 50 days in 312 centers and created all time record by collecting Rs 101 crores in just 47 days. Thus on this eve the ‘Dookudu’ team celebrated the grand event in Siddharth Engineering College in Vijayawada. The entire college ground was filled with Mahesh Babu’s fans. The dais was also packed with the film fraternity like director Raghavendra Rao, Krishna, Vijaya Nirmala, Aswini Dutt, Mahesh Babu, Samantha, Sreenu Vaitla, Ram Achanta, Gopichand Achanta, Anil Sunkara, Murali Mohan, D Suresh Babu, Sukumar, Kota Srinivas Rao, M S Narayana, Dharmavarapu Subrahmaniam, Bhaskara Bhatla, SS Thaman and his band and the entire team of Dookudu.

D Suresh Babu and Aswini Dutt presented the shields to the artists and technicians. SS Thaman’s musical show and Satya dance group entertained the audience in the function.

Krishna while speaking, “During the time of ‘Poratam’ making, Mahesh Babu accompanied me to the shooting one Sunday. At that time when Kodi Ramakrishna asked him if he would act in his film, Mahesh refused it and made him run all over the studio. However, I do not know what trick the director played with Mahesh, he finally made him act as my younger brother. Doondi garu, who observed me as ‘Goodachari 116’, blessed Mahesh Babu during the making of ‘Poratam’ film by saying that he would grow up to be a big star. And his words have become true today. At a very young age he acted without a dupe in ‘Sankharavam’. Similarly he performed on a motorbike without a dupe in ‘Koduku Diddina Kapuram’. Later he concentrated on his education and completed his degree. And you all are aware of his remaining life. ‘Dookudu’ is a wonder which I never felt bored even for a minute. Dasari Narayana Rao watched the film and commented that I gave a good actor to the industry.”

Vijaya Nirmala said, “I generally watch any film only once, but in case of ‘Dookudu’ it’s different. I watched it twice and would like to watch repeatedly because I liked the storyline and the director’s style of filmmaking. He crafted the film like a reality show. He showed NTR as Prime Minister which was the dream of Telugu people. Prakash Raj’s role is amazing. While watching the film I felt how nice it would be if YSR returns just like Prakash Raj returns after his death in ‘Dookudu’.”

Sreenu Vaitla said, “I thank the audience and the fans of Ghatamaneni family for making ‘Dookudu’ a very big hit. My only aim was to see Krishna garu happy by making this film a grand success and I did this film with that intention only. Today I’m happy to see the results I expected. I thank my entire unit for supporting me in making one such wonderful film.”

Mahesh Babu said, “Exactly 50 days ago, dad watched the film, called Sreenu Vaitla and said that the film is going to be a block buster hit and collected more than Rs 80 crores. I was infact sitting next to Sreenu at that time. He even said that I was looking good and performed very well than in my previous films. It appears as if all that happened just 5 minutes ago. It’s an unforgettable day in my life. I’ll be grateful to Sreenu Vaitla forever for giving a film like ‘Dookudu’. The producers are also one of the best producers in my film career. I’m eagerly waiting for yet another film in our combination. I learnt a lot from the senior artists. Guhan’s cinematography was excellent. This is the second time I’m celebrating the function in Vijayawada. I like it. If at all I would celebrate a function, I would prefer to do it in Vijayawada only. I’m the most fortunate person for making my dad’s fans as my fans.”

Samantha thanked the film unit and said that she is glad to see the grand success of the film. All others also spoke and expressed their happiness.
