Manam 100 Days Celebrations

Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s last film ‘Manam’, which was made under Annapurna Studio banner, has successfully completed its 100 days run. On this occasion, a grand function was organized on Saturday in Hyderabad. Naga Chaitanya’s ‘Oka Laila Kosam’ audio success meet was also arranged on the same stage. Akkineni Venkat, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Naga Susheela and Sushanth unveiled the Postal Stamp issued by United States Postal Service (USPA) in the name of late Akkineni Nageswara Rao.

On this occasion Nageswara Rao’s son Nagarjuna said, “United States Postal Service (USPA) has released postal stamp on the occasion of my father’s 91st birth anniversary September 20 in Dallas, Texas with the cooperation of Akkineni Foundation of America (AFA). I’m deeply grateful for conferring one of America’s highest honours to my father which was previously conferred to Mahatma Gandhi, Swamy Vivekananda, Pandit Ravi Sahankar and Mother Teresa. In my next trip to America I will write some letters to my family members and fans using those stamps. My father likes to watch the movies that can watch by the whole family together. ‘Manam’ is his determination.He is the only person in the history who died performing even in his last moments. ‘Manam’ is a sweet memory to us. My father’s ‘Oka lailaKosam…’ song was a super hit in those days. Likewise, I’m confident that Naga Chaitanya’s ‘Oka LailaKosam’ movie will become a super hit. I would like to say many many thanks to all my fans those supported us.”

Speaking on the occasion, T Subbarami Reddy said, “I used to say birthday wished to Akkineni Nageswara Rao on his birthday. Even though he is not there with us, he will stay in our hearts forever with his movies. Hereafter, his birthday is celebrated as a festival. I would like to congratulate Amitabh Bachchanthat he will be awarded with prestigious Akkineni National award.”

Addressing the gathering, Akkineni Akhil said, “I’m thankful to PS Vinod, my father and Vikram that they beautified ‘Manam’ wonderfully. They showcased each and every frame wonderfully. I’m very happy that I did a cameo in the film. Coming to my entry in the films, it will take some time. The reason behind that is I wish to come to you with a blockbuster. I will disclose the details soon. After the release and success of ‘Oka Laila Kosam’, I will disclose the details in Vijayawada.”

Naga Chaitanya said, “We all know that ‘Oka Laila Kosam…’ song was a super hit in those days. Likewise, I’m confident that ‘Oka Laila Kosam’ movie will become a super hit. It’s a feel good love story. Anoop has provided excellent music. The film will be released soon.”

Akkineni Naga Susheela said, “My father used to say, “I don’t know if god is there or not, but my strength is my fans and work is worship.” He made indelible impression in our hearts. ‘Manam’ is my favorite film. My brother Nagarjuna gave wonderful performance in ‘Manam’. He dwelled well in the character which is like a bridge between the two generations. Naga Chaitanya performed with ease. Akhil has amazing screen presence. I’m thankful to everyone who made the film a big hit.”

Sushanth explained, “My grandfather likes monkey business. He keeps smiling always. So, always keep smiling. We should celebrate his birthday happily.”

Director Vijay Kumar Konda said, “I’m happy that Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s birthday, Manam 100days festival and ‘Oka LailaKosam’ audio success meet are organized on the same stage. Vikram is very lucky that he got the opportunity to direct Akkineni Nageswara Rao in ‘Manam’. Now, coming to ‘Oka LailaKosam’, it’s like a full meal. While watching the film, we will feel like as if we are speaking to our friend. Everyone who watches the film will fall in love with Naga Chaitanya. Meanwhile, he makes us shed our tears for a moment. I’m thankful to all who gave this opportunity.”

Akkineni Amala, Vikram Kumar, Pooja Hegde, Ali, Vanamali and some others have attended the function. Nagarjuna has cut the 100kg cake which is presented by the fans on the occasion of Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s birth anniversary.
