LIC felicitates World Champion in Carrom 2016 S Apoorwa (LIC)

World Champion in Carrom 2016 : S. Appoorwa (L.I.C)
S. Appoorwa working as Administrative officer in Life Insurance Corporation of India has been crowned as the New World Carrom Champion at the 7th World Carrom Championship held at Birmingham, U.K from 7th to 11th November,2016. She won the Singles, Doubles and Team event making it a Hat-trick of titles.

She joined the corporation in 2002 under sports quota in L.I.C and soon after joining in a year she made the First international appearance at International Carrom Federation cup at France in 2003 and won the Women Singles title. In the subsequent years she stood runner-up twice at the SAARC Countries carom championship in 2004. She then won 3 gold medals at the 4 World Carrom Championship held at Srilanka making it a triple crown .

L.I.C has been encouraging and promoting sports by way of recruiting sportspersons of proven merit since the year 1981, which brought in excellent achievements at the national & international level sports competitions. 415 Sports Persons have been recruited in LIC . Six Sports Disciplines covered in All India LIC Sports are Athletics, Badminton, Carrom, Chess, Table Tennis & Volley Ball.

LIC by its continuous efforts has strengthened its Sports portfolio by encouraging and nurturing young promising Sportspersons. The Motivation package offered for our Sportspersons include Grant of Increment and Promotions for outstanding performances, Time off concession for Practice, Financial assistance for participating in International events etc ....
