Needa Dasari Charitable Trust Launch

The 66th birthday celebrations of Dr Dasari Narayana Rao were held on May 4th, 2011. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy graced the occasion as chief guest and launched the ‘Needa Dasari Charitable Trust’ at Ravindra Bharathi Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday evening. He also presented Mahanati Savitri National Award 2010 to Jamuna. K Roshaiah lit the lamp and inaugurated the function.

Nandini Reddy received Dasari Best New Film Director Award 2010 from K Roshaiah for her debut film ‘Ala Modalaindi’. Dasari Best Film Journalist Award was received by Sarath Kumar, Dasari Best Still Photographer Award was given away to Kumara Swamy. This apart, a total amount of Rs 2 lakhs was given to 32 talented students for their education.

Other VIP guests were State Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, AP State Cultural Council R V Ramana Murthy, Dr Dasari Narayana Rao, Dr D Rama Naidu, V B Rajendra Prasad, Murali Mohan, Tammareddy Bharadwaja, C Kalyan, G Adisheshagiri Rao, Geetanjai, Vijaya Chamundeswari, etc.

Dasari Narayana Rao said that the reason for starting this social service is that he also hails from a poor family. According to him his life is the best example to say that anyone can come up in life without anyone’s support. “I sponsored merit scholarships for many poor students after I reached a good financial status. In this way I’ve been helping the poor students for quite long time. But since I wanted my next generation also to continue this service I started this trust called ‘Needa’ with a corporate fund of Rs 1 crore. I’m going to donate 50% of my remuneration to this trust from now onwards. I would also like to help the farmers through this trust. Savitri is an evergreen actress that no one can forget her. Hence on my request the Central Government released a stamp on her name but it is very unfortunate that I could not succeed in unveil her statue at the right time. This time I’ll make sure that her statue will be unveiled by Chief Minister very soon. There are many more personalities who are yet to receive proper recognition. For the year 2010, we have chosen Jamuna for Savitri National Award,” said Dasari.

All guests including chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, K Roshaiah, Sabitha Indra Reddy, D Rama Naidu and others also spoke on the occasion and offered their wishes for his birthday and future endeavors.
