World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2017, activities at PL days.
Physical Literacy Days in association with Heritage Foundation, Anvayaa, Startup Hyderabad and several other likeminded organisations have come together to sensitize children on the issue of elder abuse. Several youngsters participated in the 5 k run & 2 km walk organised on the occasion of world elder abuse awareness day 2017 ( due on June 15, 2017).
A street play by city based Nishubitha group on how we are ignoring elders due to our busy schedules was thought provoking. Dr. Anjali & celebrity trainer Dinaz conducted fitness activities especially for the elderly.
Dr. Gangadharan, Chairman of Heritage Foundation & Past President, International Federation of ageing has addressed the participants and shared few incidents how the old parents were abandoned by their children for the money. We have never seen how our parents have taken care of us when we were small. We have not known what they went through to bring us up. So, we are not sensitive enough to take care of them when they need us said Dr. Gangadharan.
Mamatha Vegunta, a HR professional celebrated her mother's 70 years old birthday among the community. What my mother needs from us is a bit of care and love. It's my responsibility to be there for her when she needs me said, Mamatha.
