The function started off with colorful cultural programmes, both classical and non-classical followed by the presentation of awards.
Addressing the gathering Dr T Subbarami Reddy said, “It is very unfortunate that Telugu cinema is not given the needed recognition as much as the Hindi cinema in India. Hence we decided to organize this award function in a better manner compared to that of Film Fare awards and that is the reason this function was held like a film festival. My passion in life is art. After the State Nandi awards, we have no other prestigious awards in Telugu film industry. Even though several organizations are presenting awards in their own style, I wanted to gather our Telugu cinema heroes along with Bollywood legends on one dais. My intention is to make everybody happy. I’m very happy to see all Telugu heroes in this function.”
Balakrishna while speaking, “Our centuries old native art is slowly vanishing and our very culture is dying. However Subba Ramireddy garu is making efforts to save them by encouraging the arts and artists. I’m very happy to receive an award for ‘Simha’ in this first ever award function organised by Subba Ramireddy garu. I thank my director and producer on this occasion. I also dedicate this award to my entire team of ‘Simha’.
Akkineni Nageswara Rao said, “So far I have received many awards. I’m very happy to receive yet another award from Subba Ramireddy garu. I never longed for awards. In olden days the artists were never given any honor. But off late things have changed. The artists are being respected. Even though there are many rich in the society, not all will initiate and do such programmes. I appreciate Subba Ramireddy for doing so. I thank everyone here on this occasion.”
Dr Mohan Babu said, “Subba Ramireddy garu is an alrounder who is in all fields. Yet he did not forget the art and spending his money to save it. On the other hand he is also providing education to many and encouraging art in all the districts. That shows his great personality. I’m very happy to have one such person as my friend. This is a very small award for my dear friend and my co-star Chiranjeevi. I wish him to get more prestigious awards than this. I appreciate Subba Ramireddy garu for presenting these awards.”
Chiranjeevi said, “T Subba Ramireddy garu will always ensure that he organizes any programme in a prestigious manner. I’m happy to see Dharmendra and Shatrughan Sinha who inspired me in those days. I’m very happy to receive this award from Dharmendra. At the time I thought I’ve distanced myself from the film industry, Subba Ramereddy garu honoured me with this award by saying that wherever you are, you are always a Megastar for me. Today Subba Ramireddy garu reminded me one of the dialogues ‘Manishannaka kaastha kalaposhana undaalayya’, told by Rao Gopal Rao in ‘Muthyala Muggu’. That is how he exhibits his love and interest in arts and culture. He should be awarded as ‘Ever Fresh’. Every human being will have different moods but he always has the same kind of mood. One should really learn this quality from him. There is a saying in Bhagawat Geeta, “Induledu andugaladani sandeham valadu endendhu vedhikina andandhe kaladu’, this is how he is. His presence is felt in all the fields. He is serving the arts by encouraging the artists in all the districts. I’m very happy to take this award from my brother Balakrishna, my friend Mohan Babu, Jaya Sudha and Dharmendra. During my childhood people used to compare me with Shatrughan Sinha saying that I look like him. Hence I used to like him a lot. Juhi Chawla’s smile always impresses me. She smiles like a child.”
Speaking further he said, “I had a tough time during the initial stages of my marriage due to Jaya Pradha, because one month after my marriage only I participated in the shooting of ’47 Rojulu’. The reason is I used to shoot with Jaya the entire day and later after returning home I addressed my wife as Jaya which became an issue. But since we all were friends we spoke about it. To talk about my friend Mohan Babu, ours is a 30 years friendship. Our relationship is like ‘Tom & Jerry’, because we get problems only due to others which we will come to know later. I’m really lucky to get a friend like Mohan Babu. I thank one and all on this occasion.”
All other award winners like Jaya Prada, Jaya Sudha, Vijaya Shanti, Dharmendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Prakash Raj, Ravi Teja, Dr Rajendra Prasad, Boyapati Sreenu, etc., also spoke on the dais and appreciated Subba Ramireddy and thanked him for the awards.
