Memorial Afsar Naseem Khatoon Institute of Digestive Diseases (MANKInDD), a unit of SHEF, is being established as an institute that caters to the needs of patients with digestive diseases. SANDOZI HEALTH AND EDUCATION FOUNDATION (SHEF) was established in memory of (Late) Dr Moinuddin Khan Sandozi, Professor and Head .of the Department of Pathology, Gandhi and Osmania Medical Colleges, Hyderabad.

The gastrointestinal tract is home to some of the most deadly human diseases. Exacerbating the problem is the difficulty of accessing it for diagnosis or intervention and the concomitant patient discomfort. Flexible endoscopy has established itself as the method of choice and its diagnostic accuracy is high, but there remain technical limitations in modem scopes, and the procedure is poorly tolerated by patients leading to low rates of compliance with screening guidelines.

As it Reinterprets the radiological imaging in patients referred to a tertiary referral centre with a suspected pancreatic or hepatobiliary malignancy.

Dr. Irfan who is a visiting Gastroenrologist at the MANKInDD said the advancement of technology in treating complex gastroenterological problems has helped in treating many patients efficiently, he added MANKInDD is one of the first to introduce this technological advanced EUS at their centre which is specially dedicated to treat Gastroenterological cases.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Adi-one of the most experienced Gastroenterologist of Hyderabad said “Gastroenterological problems is one of the most common problems of the present day society, the onset of 21st century has seen major rise in problems with hyper acidity, ulcers, stones in pancreas, liver related diseases, hepatitis are the most common diseases existing in the society today, he added that the rise in the figures has led to major problems like malignant tumors, ulcers & cancers in the gastroenterological region. There have been many cases were the ultimate procedures would be to conduct surgeries for even minor biopsy.

He added that with the launch of EUS-The complex endoscopies, major surgical problems can be performed efficiently. He further thanked MANKInDD for introducing such a technology which is cost effeicient and saves major time in case of some complex procedures.
