Timex launches 100th store in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, April 24, 2012: Global watch major Timex achieved a major landmark in its retail expansion spree by launching its 100th Time Factory store in Hyderabad today. The store is located at up market Himayat Nagar area and is spread over an expansive area. The brand also announced the launch of its 99th Time Factory Store in Hyderabad with the opening of A.S. Rao Nagar store. These milestone stores were inaugurated by Mr. VD Wadhwa, MD & CEO of Timex Group India.

In a short span of time, “The Time Factory" has grown in to a strong retail chain of Timex Group in India with 100 "The Time Factory" stores across 41 cities and further strengthening its retail presence in the country. With an average store size of 400 sq.ft.The Time Factory concept is Timex’s avant-garde multi-brand watch store and is a favored one-stop destination for mid-priced to premium international watch brands all over the country under one roof. The store ambience is in keeping with the swish locality raises the bar in watch retail.

Speaking at the well attended store launch event, a visibly elated Mr. Wadhwa said- “Every new store launch is an important occasion, akin to adding a fresh pearl to our string of TTF stores. But this 100th store is a remarkable achievement which we view as a rare pearl in++++deed! Timex journey from 1 to 100 has been both exciting and challenging. It’s a proud moment for me as I have been a witness to this from the day we opened our first retail outlet in India.” Mr. Wadhwa added, “Timex has been performing well in the Andhra Pradesh market and we intend to further expand our reach in this market by the end of 2012; hence it was a natural choice for us to launch our 100th store here. The newly opened stores in AS Rao Nagar and Himayat Nagar in Hyderabad showcases a rich and varied collection of Timex watches as also the newly launched Helix range for the young and young-at-heart besides other international brands. Mr. Wadhwa has over 25 years of General Management experience in various industries/businesses comprising consumer life style, automotive components Textile and Financial Services. He is a self- motivated and an energetic leader. His expertise lies in marketing and new product development, setting up start-up ventures and successful business turnaround.

He is associated with the Timex Group, USA, since its inception and credited with the establishment of the entire Sales, Marketing and retail base of the Company. Subsequently, he played a major role in the profitable turnaround of Timex India operations through business and financial restructuring. Prior to taking over as the Managing Director of Timex Group India Ltd., he was responsible for the Business Development initiatives and involved with several global assignments for Business Restructuring in Russia, Brazil, Portugal and Spain and has also performed as business CFO for the distributors market across the globe.

Mr. Wadhwa is an Alumni of Harvard Business School & a fellow member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He has been a member of the various committees of FICCI & Assocham and also served as President of the Horological Federation of India.
