4th World Multiple Sclerosis Day Celebrations

Hyderabad, May 30, 2012: On the occasion of the 4th World Multiple Sclerosis Day, celebrated on the last Wednesday of the month of May, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (Hyderabad Chapter), which is affiliated to the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation, is organizing a programme today at City center Mall, Banjarahills, Hyderabad between 5.00pm & 7.00pm.

The Youth MS Group will make the evening extremely enjoyable with Karaoke music and interactive activities with KJ Anand, popularly known for his Karaoke Nights at Ten Downing Street. The evening would end with the formation of Human Chain to signify the motto ‘Join hands to end MS’.

The programme is organized to unite individuals, groups and organisation in the global Multiple Sclerosis movement on the same day across 51 participating nations and across 9 cities in India. This endeavour will provide opportunity to participate in events and activities and raise awareness of MS as a global issue and raise funds to support the work of the movement including MS research.

For those unaware, Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a common central nervous system disorder diagnosed in young adults and effecting over 20,00,000 individuals worldwide and rising. MS in not contagious and does not shorten the life-expectancy of those who are diagnosed with it.

However, what cause Multiple Sclerosis is not yet fully understood and researchers continue to search for answers. Although the condition may not be cured or prevented, presently treatments are available to reduce severity and delay progression.
