Marking the super duper success of ‘Eega’, sensational director SS Rajamouli spoke to the media in a press meet held at Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM.
Speaking to the media personnel Rajamouli said, “Cinema is a planned business. We can’t judge the movie’s success based on any given output. In a way ‘Eega’ film can be labeled as courageous. We made ‘Eega’ with complete emotions and trust. Our trust has a bottom-line impact on its success. My entire team and I are very happy to note such a huge success. I’m also feeling proud when the seniors in our industry are praising the film saying that ‘Eega’ took the Telugu film industry to the next level. I consider this success as the pride of Telugu cinema. The audience promoted the film through word-of-mouth talk. During the success tour we had a tremendous response from the public at every place we visited. I’m also overwhelmed with joy after receiving phone calls from celebrities like Rajnikanth and Shankar. Shankar sir spoke more about emotions. He also suggested me to release ‘Eega’ in Hindi and English. Rajni sir appreciated Sudeep a lot. The film was a big hit in Tamil and Malayalam too.”
When asked when he would release ‘Eega’ in Hindi he answered, “We got the offer of Rs 5 crs for Hindi satellite rights even before the release of the film. We are presently getting more offers. The producers are thinking of releasing it in 2D and 3D. In that case it would take atleast a minimum of 4 months. We have already seen few rushes in 3D format. They were extraordinary. Now it all depends on producers’ decision.”
When asked if ‘Eega’ would cross ‘Magadheera’ in collection records he reacted, “I don’t care about records. As far as I know the collections are excellent for ‘Eega’.
When commented that he doesn’t require heroes after ‘Eega’ he reacted, “My principle is that story and screenplay is very important for every director and hero and I sincerely follow that.”
About his next film with Prabhas he said, “Right now I’m totally enjoying being in cloud 9. I will start the film once I come down. I consider every film as my first film. I can’t say how long I will take to shoot this film. It all depends on the story and screenplay. I wouldn’t consider the experience gained in my previous films as sufficient for my next film. Perhaps, I’ll get a new kind of experience with my next film.
‘Eega’ starring Nani, Samantha and Sudeep is directed by Rajamouli under Varaahi Chalana Chitra banner. M M Keeravani composed the music and K K Senthil Kumar is the cinematographer. D Suresh Babu presented the film which was released on July 6th and is shaking the box-office collections.
