Second edition of Airtel Hyderabad Marathon 2012 concludes today

Hyderabad, August 26th, 2012: Hyderabad Runners, together with Bharti Airtel, a leading integrated telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, has today organized the second edition of Airtel Hyderabad Marathon 2012. The event was flagged of by Mr. Anurag Sharma, Police Commissioner, Hyderabad and Mr. Sharlin Thayil, CEO - Bharti Airtel AP at 6:00 am from the picturesque Hussainsagar Lake (People’s Plaza). More than 3500 runners participated in the city’s biggest Marathon event. Hyderabad city witnessed enthusiastic participation from runners across India and overseas running to celebrate Hyderabad.
The full marathon which was flagged off from the scenic Hussainsagar Lake (People’s Plaza) at 5 am went through Banjara Hills, Jubilee hills, Hi-Tec City and successfully concluded at Hyderabad’s most prominent sports venue, the GMC Balayogi Stadium at Gachibowli. The half marathon runners, relay runners and the special group of runners called ‘“Marathon friends” enjoyed their run across the serene roads on a pleasant Sunday morning. This is just the second edition of the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon and within a span of one year this people’s event has been embraced by not just the citizens of Hyderabad but runners across the country and overseas. The route for the Marathon was serene with runners running along the lake, running on the flyovers, the hills, passing through the tech hub and finally finishing at the prominent sporting spot of Hyderabad the GMC Balayogi stadium.
Honourable Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Shri. ESL Narasimhan, Mr. Sharlin Thayil, CEO - Bharti Airtel AP, Tirumala Rao, Cyberabad Police Commissioner, Dr. T.R.K.Rao, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, SAAP, Prof. Ramakrishna Ramaswamy, Vice Chancellor, University of Hyderabad were present at the GMC Balayogi Stadium at Gachibowli to felicitate the winners.
