Oakridgers spread the message of Road Safety at Jubilee Hills Check Post!
Hyderabad, April 24th 2013: Students from Oakridge International School organized a huge Road Safety Awareness road show on Wednesday at the Jubilee Hills checkpost signal at 9.30 am, as a culmination of their twenty day Road Safety Awareness Campaign. The students had placards, posters with messages on safe driving and making Hyderabad an accident free city. Jubilee Hills was chosen to reach the message a wider section of the motorists, as this junction has heavy traffic, which peaks between 9.30 and 10.30 am.
The campaign which began on April 4th 2013 had proactive initiatives from the students like Presentations for Corporates on road safety and included large corporate like Mahindra Satyam, Invesco etc., Training on safety to the drivers and several awareness contests. All these road safety awareness initiatives by the students were well received and appreciated by one and all. The campaign concluded with a grand awareness campaign at the Jubilee Hills Check post, today.
1.2 million die in road accidents each year. A child is killed in an accident every three minutes. Road safety is increasingly becoming a major killer and a worldwide concern, particularly for young people. What can we do to address the issue? Awareness is the only solution which should come from every corner of life.
Oakridge is one of the pioneer educational institutions that provide global education focusing to instill social commitments and global responsiveness in the minds of students. Carrying forward that message Oakridgers started a Road Safety Campaign to create awareness on being safe on road. As part of the campaign to spread the message wide and loud, the students visited corporates, met public and created awareness on methods to be safe and protected while on road.
Capt. Rohit Sen Bajaj, principal of Oakridge Gachibowli campus, says, “We have initiated this program with noble cause of spreading awareness on road safety. These kinds of initiatives are there for long time but children taking up such an initiative make it different from others. They have gone deep into the research to find out the solution and worked hard to propagate their message.
Our students made beautiful presentations to describe the chaos created by road accidents and were able to convey their message to large crowd. During their corporate visit to companies like Mahindra Satyam and Invesco, the positive reaction and responses received were encouraging for them.
