Ritu Kumar & Ritz Presents Couture Collection of `Panchvastra & Chanderi' and Unveiling of the June Issue of Ritz

Rim Kumar and Ritz, South India's Uber Lifetsyle magazine brought together an evening of style and panache with a unique blend of the contemporary chic and the classical Indian fashion ethos.

The evening features a fashion presentation of Ritu Kumar's Chanderi Collection, an ode to the textile traditions of Chanderi and the signature Panchvastra collection that pays tribute to the Mahabharata.

Ritz, spearheaded by Aruna Krishnan, Editor, Publisher and Industrialist launched the June issue of the magazine that brings together an uber lifestyle of the progressive Indian. The cover features the enigmatic, Shilpa Reddy, fashion designer and entrepreneur who unveiled the copy of the June issue of Ritz. Lakshmi Manchu, the glamour leading lady of Telugu film industry was a special guest of honour for the evening.

Panchvastra and Chanderi Collection are infused with the signature Ritu Kumar embellishments that the designer is internationally recognized for. The collection is delicate and feminine with a carefully crafted colour palate comprising strong hues and bright, bold shades. The Collections has extensive use of various embroideries, along with gota and zardosi embroidery, lends a regal look to the collection. Purity, seduction, swayamvar, exile and darkness are the predominant themes running through this eclectic collection. The mood of purity is brought to life with hues of white and peach that have been woven together beautifully to convey the essence of the sequence.

On the other hand, Chanderi Collection Inspired by the colorful history of Chanderi, a picturesque village in Madhya Pradesh, Ritu Kumar presents the Chanderi Collection, an ode to the textile heritage of Chanderi.

Accenting these elegant Chanderi saris are round Ashrafi motifs in dull antique gold embroidered with the traditional Aari technique of Bengal. This embroidery is also used to create 'darits on the edges of the saris, giving them an interesting finishing and a drama of its own.

The collection ranges in varied colors inspired from the colors of mangoes, as befits the summer season. The color palate reflects the hues of the Mango fruit, both in its raw form - in deep lime yellow and lime greens to also their ripe state with colors such as - coral, all the tangy yellow tones and burnt oranges. The Chandcri Saris made on the looms of the ancient town of Chanderi and Maheshwari in Madhya Pradesh have been designed and then yarn dyed in these colors and the crossing of the weft and warps creates woven jewel tones giving it a regal look.
