Exclusive line of eri silk sarees and dupattas
I take pride in introducing to you, ereena, an authentic en i silk brand, based on the rich, ancient tradition of rearing, spinning and weaving en i in a remote region nestled near the foothills of the Himalayas!
ereena sarees and accessories, are natural, comfortable to wear, drape beautifully and look great! They keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. Truly, they are a nature's gift for all seasons! Also, besides being environmentally friendly, the making of eri products has a huge positive social impact, particularly, in the empowerment of women.
My introductory, limited edition, en-rich sarees and dupattas are being showcased at Saptaparni, Road No. 8, Banjara Hills, on Saturday January 4, 2014 between 11 a.m& 7 p.m.
This collection represents en i silk in the ikat and uppada weaving traditions. Each season, we will introduce new varieties, exploring a new weaving tradition or craft from our rich heritage. These will then be sold from exclusive outlets in various cities.
Traditionally, eri silk was handspun and woven into shawls and garments by women at home, with designs that were unique to each family and passed on from mother to daughter. Introduction of innovative technology and processes by our parent factory in the past few years has spearheaded productivityof making en, increasing yield from 3 yards to 25 yards of fabric per kilogram of yarn; and made en i silk consistent in its quality and commercially viable.
Eri production in our factory has had a huge social impact! More than 12,000 marginalized, rural cocoon rearers now have a sustainable source of income and almost 20,000 families have improved livelihoods in strife-torn Assam. Close to 2,000 weavers and spinners.
