The Krishnakriti Festival of Art and Culture celebrates a decade this year. Ki It all started in the year 2004. Prshant, along with all mother Smt. Nirmala Lahoti, and wife Smt. Rekhat Lahoti, launched Krishnakriti Art Foundation as an extension of Kalakriti Art Gallery, in memory of FRPtI late father Sri Krishnachandra B Lahoti. Its aim was to support artists and educational activities in the field of visual arts.
With the support of Kalakriti Art Gallery, Krishnakriti Art Foundation today intends to be self sustaining. The Annual Festival in January every year is intended to celebrate three abiding refinements of life - art, culture and education - and to share these with as many people as possible. Along with artist residencies, lectures, conversations, seminars, workshops, art talks, films, classical music, theatre, and other educational initiatives form this festival; wherein luminaries are invited from State, National & International.
Dedicated to the cause 'Art for education', the Krishnakriti festival is aimed at providing scholarships to deserving and needy young art students and budding artists from across India. Our philanthropy reaches to students through institutions in Hyderabad, Baroda, Santiniketan, Delhi & Bangalore.
Krishnakriti encourages, promotes and supports innovative work in the field visual arts. The Foundation awards annual residency programs in France every year, in collaboration with the French Embassy. Began in 2008, the awardees are Dhrupadi Ghosh, Mrinmoy Debbarma, Reji Arackal, Aishwarya Sultania, Ranjan Ghosh, Hetal Chudasama, Dillip Kumar Malik, Megha Katyal, Vikram R V, Biplab Roy, Anupama Kumari, Swathi Vijay and Vaibhav Sharma.
Furthermore, Kalakriti in association with The Foundation has launched 'Kalakriti Award for Achievement and Excellence' which is an annual feature to honor an individual who made a difference to the city with their work. This award will be presented during the festival every year. The previous recipients of this award were Shankar Melkote and V V S Laxman.
Now, for its 10-year celebrations, The Foundation has invited many celebrated personalities to have interactive sessions/live concert with the Hyderabad audience, like, Narendra Luther, Nishtha Jain, Dr. Manosi Lahiri, Pushpamala N, Anders Hillborg, Bose Krishnamachari, Sonal Singh, Sonam Kalra, G R lranna, Pooja lranna, Anant Mariganti & S P Shorey.

Nishtha Jain is an Indian film director and producer, most known for her documentaries like `Gulabi Gang' and lakshmi & Me'. Born in 1965 in New Delhi, Nishtha graduated from the Jamia Mass Communication Research Centre there. She then used to work as an editor and correspondent for video news magazines, and then later, she studied film direction at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Since 2002, she's been working as an independent filmmaker and is currently based in Mumbai. Her films have received several international awards and have been extensively exhibited in international film festivals, broadcasted on international TV networks and regularly shown in Schools and Colleges in India and abroad. From her very first film 'City of Photos' in 2005 to 'Gulabi Gang' in 2012, it's been a time of passionate engagement with people's lives and issues of filmmaking.
'Romance of Hyderabad' An audio visual presentation by Narendra Luther At Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad
Narendra Luther is a prolific writer, former civil servant, author and columnist, and presently lives in Hyderabad. He is considered as a leading authority on the history and culture of erstwhile Hyderabad.
As a prolific writer, he has written extensively on the subject. His books include Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah, the Founder of Hyderabad; Hyderabad — a Biography; Raja Deen Dayal; The Nocturnal Court; Lashkar- the Story of Secunderabad; Rockscape of Andhra Pradesh; and latest being The Legendotes of Hyderabad. These works of his are living testimony to Hyderabad's evolving history and culture.
Mr. Luther has authored tens of books and thousands of articles. Some of his books have been translated into Hindi, Urdu, Oriya and Telugu. He is also a contributing author to number of books. Luther scripted India's first full-length animation film on Bhagmati, the romantic inspiration behind the founder of Hyderabad. He has received seven literary awards from seven literary bodies of India. He has also produced some documentaries, one of which won two international awards.
Mr. Luther holds Honours in Economics and MA in Political Science from Punjab University and Industrial Management from Leeds University. He started his career in the IAS in 1955, having held several distinguished posts under the Government of India and Andhra Pradesh, finally retiring as Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh in 1991.
