Isuzu Motors India, the global diesel engine expert, today handed over key of India-made MU-7 to first customer in Hyderabad today.
On the occasion, Isuzu also showcased the India-manufactured, sports utility vehicle MU-7. The India-produced MU-7 inherits lsuzu's diesel-engine expertise and is endowed with superior fuel efficiency and outstanding engine performance. A 3-metre wheel-base makes the MU-7 one of the longest SUVs available in India, offering luxurious and spacious interiors. !sun, MU-7 is powered with a 3 litre turbo-charged diesel engine, delivering 163 PS @ 3600 rpm and 360 Nm @ 1800- 2800 rpm range, making it a tough and reliable ride. With a strong focus on providing best services to its valued customers, lsuzu has equipped thenew MU-7with a uniqueone-of-its kind software 'Isuzu Insight'. An intelligent software, Isuzu Insight is like a mirror which draws data on driving habits front the Engine Control Unit (ECU) of the vehicle, analyses this data arid provides insights on improving vehicle efficiency and performance. Customers can receive their driving evaluations front trained Isuzu Service Advisors at the dealership who will assist the customers to identify areas of improvement in terms of fuel efficiency, vehicle safety and performance.

Thedistinctive feature of Isuzu insight is its ability to evaluate each individual customers' driving habits while taking into consideration his/her unique driving and usage requirements, driving conditions and environment.While this program will help individual MU-7 customers improve their driving and fuel mileage, the software will also help in fuel conservation at a larger level and also alleviate the stress on the environment.

At present, Isuzu has a contract manufacturing agreement with Hindustan Motors (HML) under which HML iscontract assembling CKD kits of isun's sports utility vehicle MU-7 and pick-up truck D-Max, at its Thiruvallur, Chennai plant. Isuzu's own manufacturing plant is likely to be operational by 2015-16. The company has earmarked a total investment of Rs. 3,000 crores for this plant which is expected to have a capacity of 1,00,000 to 1,20,000 units once fully operational. Isuzu signed a MoU with the Government of Andhra Pradesh earlier this year - to set up a LCV manufacturing facility at Sri City, Hyderabad.
