Wonderla Holidays Limited, the leading amusement park operator in India, today officially announced the inauguration date of its most hi-tech amusement park in Hyderabad. Wonderla has been operating the extremely popular Bangalore and Kochi parks for over a decade. Wonderla Hyderabad is the 3rd Amusement park of the company and set up with an investment of over 250 Cr. Spread over 50 acres the park is located the ORR at Exit No. 13, 15 minute drive from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad.

Mr. Arun K Chittilappilly, MD, Wonderla Holidays Limited who was addressing a gathering at the first press conference of the company in Hyderabad, held to announce the opening date of the park, commented, “There is a huge interest among general public and other stake holders about opening date of the park which has been under construction for the last 15 months. We are happy to announce that we are looking to officially inaugurate the park in the 3rd Week of April. The construction activities are mostly completed and we are in the process of securing all the requisite permissions which should come through in the next few weeks.”

Commenting further, he mentioned, “This is going to be a huge moment for us. 2 years back almost similar time, we went public to raise money to build this park. We are extremely proud that we have been able to complete this project on schedule like our other projects. At the time of launch, the park will have the capacity to entertain over “10000 people’ in a day and will have 43 exciting land & water based rides to satisfy thrill appetites of all age groups. In the next one year, we will also add 3 more new attractions, including India’s first spaced theme Flying Theater experience.”

The park, designed in a mix of very modern Art Deco and Persian styles, by Architect Mr.Joseph John , who also designed the other Wonderla parks and will offer the latest and the best in amusement park technology, including:

Largest mix of land and water based attractions in Hyderabad totaling 43 attractions at launch
India’s first reverse looping roller coaster named RECOIL, with maximum height of 40 metres and with 6 inversions per ride, imported from the Netherlands.

India’s first SPACE themed flying theatre experience, which will be opened by December 2016
First Park in India with cashless RFID based transactions facility called EZ Pay across the park

Mr. Depinderjit Singh Sachdeva, CEO, Wonderla Holidays Limited, who was also present at the press conference, commented, “We have lined up a big marketing campaign in the first 3 months of the launch to generate awareness and interest about the park. We will also undertake several activations to drive first experience. We are currently running a campaign called ‘SCREAM FOR WONDERLA’ contest through which we are giving chance to 500 people from the city to win an all-expense paid trip to Wonderla Bangalore. We will also run flash sales to give limited number of consumers an opportunity to sample the Hyderabad Park experience before we officially open the park to a larger audience.”

A park with spectacular range of attractions with high safety standards
The spectacular range of attractions at Wonderla Hyderabad would have a total 25 land based rides including India’s first reversing roller coaster –Recoil, flying theatre ( could be opened by December 2016)and adventures of chikku a hi-tech animated immersive show based on our mascot Chikku the monkey. The park will also feature “ trademark Wonderla attractions like Maverick, Techno Jump, Space Jam, Equinox, Twin flip T-rex, Termite coaster, Pirate ship, Sky wheel, Grand prix and Crazy cars. The park also has one of the largest water parks in India with 18 water based attractions including 2 large wavepools. Other attractions at the water park includes Rain Disco, a large indoor disco with choreographed rain showers and a jungle theme lazy river. The water park also features India’s largest water play structure that can cater to all age groups.

A fairyland for everyone with a child within, 18 land based attractions are fully imported from Europe. 7 land attractions and 9 water based rides and pools has been made completely by the Wonderla Engineering division. Nestled in picturesque greenery, the rides are designed to be safe and adhere to all regulations with respect to amusement park design and safety standards. The safety measures at Wonderla, Hyderabad are not only on par with the global standards, but also are the highest standard for any park in India.

Wide range of facilities for convenience
The other facilities at the 50 acre park will include a large 1500 unit capacity car park, 2500 electronically controlled lockers and changing rooms, 5 themed restaurants and food courts with seating capacity of 1200 people at any point in time, 8 merchandise shopping areas and a number of ATMs. It will also have a multipurpose hall fitted with the latest light and sound systems that can host 600 people and will be ideal for corporate gatherings and conferences. The park will have a team of 700 dedicated and experienced staff, courteous and highly trained lifeguards, ride attendants and Security personnel to render all possible assistance to the guests.

The ambience in the park has been carefully designed keeping the weather patterns of Hyderabad in mind. The park will be comfortable even in summer due to extensive shaded areas and the many plants and trees lining each and every walk way. Wonderla Hyderabad will be home to more than 650 varieties of trees and plants. There are also special ‘misting fans’ located across the park that will reduce heat.

Eco Friendly Amusement!
Wonderla is committed to reducing its environmental impact, observes stringent measures to maintain a clean and pollution-free operation. In line with its philosophy, Wonderla Hyderabad will be the first Amusement park in India that will generate over 1MW of solar power from the panels used in the large car park area. This will reduce peak electricity load of the park. The park also features an extensive rainwater harvesting system that will collect over 1crore ltr of rain water, enabling the park to run without any external water for up to a month.

Wonderla has also been decreed the enviable OHSAS 18001:2007 certificate and is the only parks in India to use reverse osmosis treatment technology and in the pools. The Water purification system at Wonderla Hyderabad is a very significant aspect, as the cleanliness of water, used by thousands of people every day, is a very important safety aspect of running a water park. 5 different types of Water Treatment Plants that have been installed to treat various types of water and an ultra-modern in-park Quality Control Lab will ensure that water used in the various water rides is clean and hygienic. Besides, all the Water Treatment methods conform to standards prescribed by BIS. The unusable water, leftover after the purification process, is treated, and used for irrigation purposes within the park, thereby making Wonderla a zero discharge amusement park.
