Nandi Awards 2007 Presentation

2007 Nandi Awards were held at Lalitha Kala Thoranam, Hyderabad on Saturday, the 14th February, 2009. Along with Nandi Awards, NTR National Award and Raghupati Venkaiah Award were also presented. Home Minister Jana Reddy was the Chief Guest of the event.

Jana Reddy while speaking on the occasion said, “I’m honoured to be the Chief Guest of the event where NTR National Award is being presented. Today I would like to request the producers and directors to reduce the violence and vulgarity in films as they are not a healthy sigh to the film industry as well as the society”.

“I’m very happy to felicitate and present the NTR National Award the most talented person like Dasari Narayana Rao, who contributed his services to Telugu Film Industry in the form of an actor, writer, director and producer. This apart he has also been a good politician too. Likewise I also feel happy and proud to present the Raghupati Venkaiah Award to Tammareddy Krishnamurthy, who played a vital role in transferring the entire Telugu Film Industry from Chennai to Hyderabad”, said Jana Reddy.

Dr Dasari Narayana Rao was felicitated with a shawl by Konathala Ramakrishna, garlanded by Annam Rama Narayana Reddy, a cheque of Rs 5 Lakhs and NTR National Award memento by Jana Reddy.

Similarly for Raghupati Venkaiah Award, Tammareddy Krishna Murthy was felicitated with a shawl, Rs 50,000/- cash prize, certificate and the Gold Nandi.

After receiving the prestigious award Dasari spoke few words. He said, “I directed films like Bobbili Puli, Manushulanta Okkate, Sardar Paparayudu and Viswaroopam with NTR. Today, I’m proud to receive the award named on NTR. Having received Rs 5 lakhs as cash prize on NTR’s name, I would like to include Rs 5 lakhs more and use that entire amount for the social cause”.

Dr Rajendra Prasad, Venkatesh, Ram Charan Teja, Jagapathi Babu, Charmi, Tamanna, Sreenu Vytla, Krishna Vamsi, Jhansi, Radha Kumari and Radha Krishna were some of the prominent award winners who were also present at the function. The evening was delightful with colourful dances performed by professional classical dancers.
