Krishna was born in Burripalem, Guntur, in Andhra Pradesh , India, on 31-05-1943. He is an Indian film actor. His work in Telugu cinema is well known.
Personal Life:
Krishna's father is Ghattamaneni Raghavaiah Chowdary & mother is Ghattamaneni Nagaratnamma. He has four siblings, two sisters named Lakshmi Ghattamaneni & Aliveelumangamma Ghattamaneni and two brothers named G. Hanumantha Rao, G. Adhiseshagiri Rao.
He has five children, Ghattamaneni Ramesh Babu, Manjula Ghattamaneni, Padmavathi Ghattamaneni, Priyadarshini Ghattamaneni and Mahesh Babu (now Prince of Telugu's most enchanting actor).
He completed schooling at Naraspur and graduated from Eluru CRR College in BSC. At first, he acted in a college event and became interested at which he was judged and asked to take his career more seriously.
Career:
He made his debut later in Tenemanasulum, which was a big hit and a start to his brilliant acting career. He has spent nearly five decades in the film industry and he has played a large number of versatile roles in over 350 films.
He acted at the beginning of his career in films such as Saakshi who won the Tashkent Film Festival 's Critical Acclaim Award. His multi-faceted profession involves mythological, tragic, cowboy, comedy, classical Western, action, historical and much more.
He owns Padmalaya Film Studio, a production house under which he has produced many films and directed nearly seventeen feature films until now. His work series includes films such as Mundhadugu, KiraayiKotigaadu, Sakthi and Prajaarajyam, KhaidiRudraya, IddharuDongalu, BangaaruKaapuram, Mukyamanthri and others.
He also directed a Bollywood film, IshqhaiTumse, with Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea. For the first time in Telugu film industry it has been known for introducing many technological things, like first Color Movie, first 70 mm films, first cowboy films etc.
Awards & Honors:
He was awarded the Film Fare Lifetime Achievement Award – South for his evergreen personality in 2007. In 2009, he was also awarded with the Govt of India Padma Bhushan award for his significant contribution to Indian film.
