Prakash Raj has quit the Movie Artists Association a day after he lost the elections. He said that he respects the mandate of MAA voters.
"The Association members believe that I am not a Telugu 'bidda'. They have elected a Telugu 'bidda'. So, I am resigning from the primary membership of the Association," Prakash Raj said. The versatile actor clarified that he will continue to do Telugu movies. "I can't be a member of this association when its ideology is not acceptable," he added.
"The elections took place amid talk of regionalism. Some people felt that non-Telugus can vote but can't contest. It's not my mistake if my parents are non-Telugus. I have to accept the verdict of the members. As a self-respecting person, I am quitting MAA," Prakash Raj said.
Asked about rumoured political interference in MAA elections by political parties, Prakash Raj said that he doesn't endorse any sort of political interference.
