Actress Meena's husband Vidyasagar died on Tuesday evening due to a prolonged lung infection worsened by a Covid-19 infection he caught in January this year. He was 48 and was in need of lung transplant surgery.
Reportedly, Vidyasagar was not keeping well for several months ever since he tested positive for Covid-19. While his wife could recover from a coronavirus infection, he couldn't because of the lung-related co-morbidity. Doctors in Chennai advised that his damaged lung be transplanted.
The transplantation couldn't be done in time for want of a donor organ.
The news has shocked everyone, considering that a Covid-19 infection had precipitated Vidyasagar's health crisis.
Meena tied the knot with him in 2009. Their daughter Nainika made her acting debut in the Kollywood big-ticket movie 'Theri' in 2016.
Meena's colleague and senior artist Khushu Sundar has condoled his demise. "Waking up to a terrible news. Heartbroken to learn actor Meena's husband, Sagar, is no more with us. He was battling a lung ailment for long. Heart goes out to Meena and her young daughter. Life is cruel. At loss of words to express grief. Deepest condolences to the family," she tweeted.
