Director Harish Shankar is making 'Ustaad Bhagat Singh' with Pawan Kalyan in the lead. The film is a remake of Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil movie 'Theri'. When the movie was announced, there were a deluge of social media posts urging Power Star and the director to desist from opting for a remake in the age of OTT.
"Within 24 hours, there were 268,000 tweets. An ordinary person wouldn't be able to handle a deluge. When the film's Glimpse video was released, the reaction from fans was the opposite. They apologized to me and asked for my forgival," director Harish Shankar said in his latest interview.
Harish Shankar is having to defend the idea of remakes because his soon-to-be-released 'Mr. Bachchan' (August 15th release) is also a remake. The Ravi Teja-Jagapathi Babu movie is a remake of the Hindi film 'Raid', which starred Ajay Devgn in the lead.
Pawan Kalyan, meanwhile, hasn't conveyed to the makers of 'Ustaad Bhagat Singh' as to when he will be ready to rejoin the shoot.
