Boka is the name of comedian Ali in 'Double Ismart'. The character and its quirks were conceived by Puri Jagannadh a good 15 years ago!
"It was 15 years ago that I first pitched the idea of the character to Ali," Puri said.
The audience are sceptical about Boka being entertaining. The character and its eccentric body language were conceived when both Ali and Puri were in good form. In 2024, neither of them is. Ali's presence in the Trailer of 'Double Ismart' is over-the-top. His gaudy costumes and in-your-face getup is far from hilarious.
Puri must realize that trends have changed since the time he wrote successful tracks for Ali. Ali's presence in films like 'Pokiri', 'Idiot' and 'Amma Nanna O Tamilammayi' added value to those films. That Ali is now a thing of the past.
Puri Jagannadh's 'Double Ismart' is going to hit the cinemas on August 15. It is headlined by Ram Pothineni.
