Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (2013) is slated to be re-released in theatres on March 7th. The film features Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu as brothers.
In an old interview, director Srikanth Addala once revealed that Prakash Raj's character in the family drama was first offered to Superstar Rajinikanth. "I wanted the message of the character to be conveyed through such a great actor. I felt doing so would have reached every class of audience easily," Addala said in the interview.
Although Rajinikanth liked the character after a 40-minute narration, he declined to act in the movie citing health concerns.
Producer Dil Raju aimed at pulling off a casting coup of sorts by casting Rajini as the father of two superstars. But it is doubtful at what stage Rajini was approached. At first, Venkatesh and Pawan Kalyan were supposed to play brothers.
Years later, Addala made an attempt to cast Rajinikanth as Mahesh Babu's father in Brahmotsavam. The character was eventually played by Satyaraj.
