Brahmanandam reveals why he is not doing films like before

Brahmanandam today interacted with the media for the first time in many years. Ahead of the release of a comedy drama titled Brahma Anandam (February 14th release), the legendary comedian shed light on many lingering questions in the minds of the audience.

He was asked about the lack of durable comedy in today's movies. Why is the efficacy of most of the comedy scenes short-lived these days? Brahmanandam tried to be as diplomatic as possible as he took care not to belittle today's filmmakers. "There is Avakaya Pachadi and there is Kobbari Chutney. The former has a longer shelf life, while the latter tastes great just for one day. Both are unique in their own ways. Today's comedy can't be run down (just because it has a shorter shelf life)," Brahmi said.

Brahmanandam also said that, these days, comedians are not the only ones doing comedy. "In today's films, everyone does comedy, be it the hero, the heroine or the villain," he said.

Brahmanandam also answered why it has been years since he has stopped acting in dozens of movies. He suggested that he has become too old to work hard like before. "I have to accept the age factor. I can't be active like before. Also, I don't want to be seen as a monotonous artist. I have stopped doing films because I am self-critical. Take the case of Vennela Kishore. He is self-aware, and has never latched on to any and every offer," Brahmi said.
