"Saif Ali Khan to lose Pataudi family properties worth Rs 15,000 crore in Bhopal?" a newspaper headline by Economic Times has stated. The report pertains to a property dispute involving certain provisions of the Enemy Property Act.
The Bollywood actor hails from a Nawab family. His father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, was the son of the last ruling Nawab of the princely state of Pataudi during the British Raj. The family owns properties in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. As per an interpretation of the Enemy Property Act, the Pataudi family descendants living in India are not entitled to the properties in Bhopal because the eldest daughter of Mansoor's maternal grandfather Hamidullah Khan migrated to Pakistan after Partition. Those who migrated to Pakistan can't claim to have ownership of property in India even if their descendants stay back in India. "Saif is the grandson of the woman who remained in India, but the government is citing the migrant daughter as grounds to take control of the properties," a report by Indian Express says.
Due to this, Saif Ali Khan might lose ownership to his family properties in Bhopal.
The actor was recently stabbed by a Bangladeshi illegal immigrant. He underwent surgeries at a private hospital in Mumbai. He got discharged on Tuesday.
