Sandalwood producer Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah has alleged that Nani's Hi Nanna is an unofficial remake of his Kannada movie, Bheemasena Nalamaharaja.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Pushkara today claimed that his 2020 movie was copied by Natural Star Nani. Hi Nanna was released in December 2023. Bheemasena Nalamaharaja, currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video, was released in 2020.
Pushkara, who co-produced the Kannada movie with actor Rakshit Shetty and Hemanth M Rao, accused Nani of doing a "cheap thing".
It's inexplicable that Pushkara kept quiet for more than a year. There are some plot similarities between Hi Nanna and Bheemasena Nalamaharaja. Memory loss element is one of them.
Hi Nanna, directed by newcomer Shouryuv, was a big box office hit. Hesham Abdul Wahab's music was soulful. Mrunal Thakur played the female lead.
