On Saturday, Jr NTR interacted with the Hyderabad-based media about 'Roudram Ranam Rudhiram', which will be released in theatres on January 7 next year.
I have not dubbed for my character in Malayalam. I have done it for other languages. I know Tamil and Kannada well. Writer Madhan Karky helped me with Tamil. I tried to dub for the Malayalam version as well. But my director felt that I was not up to the mark.
We know facts about Komaram Bheem, his exile into the jungles, his return to fight the Nizam despots, his martyrdom. 'RRR' explores something else. (Rajamouli said that most of the story takes place in Delhi, barring 5% of the story. And he added that the film is an entirely fictional account of Bheem and Alluri).
It's not just about the physical transformation that I had to undergo. It was also about displaying the mental strength of Bheem. His demeanour, his body language, his inner strength... everything had to be channelized for the character.
I spent more time thinking about 'RRR' and my character than shooting for the movie. During the pandemic, there were long breaks and it was not easy to stay in the mood.
When Jakkanna (Rajamouli) approached me for this movie, I had no calculations. I didn't know that it would be a pan-India movie. That 'RRR' is coming out in multiple languages is a bonus.
I have spoken in the Telangana dialect in the movie. As someone who grew up in Hyderabad, it was not that hard for me. But since the film is set in the 1920s, the specific language of those days has been spoken by my character. Those days, 'Vaari' and such words were commonplace in conversations. But such words haven't been used today.
Alia Bhatt is a fantastic actor. I was nervous on the day I met her. I had to match her talent.
