'Ghani' is hitting the cinemas on April 8. On Tuesday, producers Allu Bobby and Sidhu Mudda interacted with the press and spoke about the sports film.

It has been several years since a boxing-based film with emotional content has been made in Tollywood. 'Amma Nanna O Tamilammayi' comes to mind. Since then, we haven't seen a proper boxing-based movie in Telugu.
Sports and politics have been a mixed affair. That's what 'Ghani' shows dramatically. This is where our film is different from other sports dramas.
Composer Thaman and director of photography George C Williams have worked really hard. The story has been narrated as Ghani's journey. His realizations and how he evolves over time are pivotal features of the story.
'Ghani' captures the emotions in the life of a typical sportsperson. Every sportsperson's journey is strewn with challenges. From economic difficulties to psychological hardships, sportspersons have to grapple with a lot of issues. 'Ghani' brings them out in an honest fashion.
Varun Tej is a family member, much like my co-producer Sidhu Mudda, who is a cousin. The amount of homework Varun did for 'Ghani' was huge. He underwent professional training in boxing. At one point, he even suffered a shoulder injury. (Sidhu Mudda said that the 'Gaddalakonda GAnesh' and 'F3' actor even read books as part of the homework).
Upendra and Suniel Shetty have been chosen because their roles are strong, not to make a pan-India point or something. 'Ghani' is going to be released only in Telugu and Kannada.
Next up, I am producing a web series. Making 'Ghani' during the worst pandemic was a challenge and learning experience. I had the moral support of my father.
I came up with Allu Bobby Company to take ownership of my own journey. That's why 'Ghani' hasn't been made on Geetha Arts. (Bobby suggested that he wants to prove his mettle as a producer by coming out of the shadow of his father).
Our film is being released two weeks after the release of 'RRR'. I don't think it's a risk or something. 'Shyam Singha Roy' happened a week after 'Pushpa'.
