Success of 'KA' fills us with great confidence: Director duo Sujith-Sandeep

"I come from an advertising background. As brothers, we are driven by a passion for storytelling," says director Sujith, one of the filmmakers behind 'KA'. His brother, Sandeep, is the other director. With 'KA' turning out to be a sensational thriller, the director duo are elated. In this interview, they talk about working with Kiran Abbavaram, the audience reception, and more. They share that the story was written backwards from the climax. Opting for Sam CS to music-direct the film was a masterstroke, they feel. Thanking producer Chinta Gopalakrishna Reddy and distributor Vamsi Nandipati, they add that the audience have been vociferous in their defence of 'KA' on social media. "According to SS Rajamouli, a robust narrative, rather than a substantial budget, is the definitive factor in achieving global recognition," says Sandeep.

Sujith:

Words can't express how we feel. The audience delivered the results we hoped for. Kiran treated us like brothers, managing everything from production to the end, which took the pressure off us.

The audience gave a standing ovation at the end of the film. Proving our apprehensions wrong, the audience have connected deeply with the content.

In today's times, due to the spread of communication, privacy is an unknown concept. There was a time when one could only learn about others' lives by peering into the letters addressed to them. This inspired us to create a postman character as the male lead.

The backdrop of Krishnagiri is unique. Due to its location, it offered us some advantage in blendin the story.

Sandeep:

The premise of a story is its foundation, and we carefully crafted a strong one for 'KA.' We initially anticipated the film to appeal primarily to multiplex audiences, categorized as the A and B segments. However, the C-center audience, often overlooked, has shown an unexpected and overwhelming enthusiasm for the film.

Witnessing houseful boards across theaters in AP and Telangana is a testament to the film's broad appeal, and we are overjoyed by the positive response from all segments of the audience.

We shared our responsibilities right from the start. Sujith took care of the scripting part. I focused on the execution part.

Graphics in 'KA' have enhanced story-telling. They are not there for the sake of optics. That's why everyone is loving the CG work.

Reviews by film critics have been encouraging. We respect their view points. I think the film lacking in commercial elements is not a minus at all. It's an authentic story that doesn't deviate from the main plot.
