Gaayam 2 Press Meet

Under Ram Gopal Varma’s presentation, Dharmakartha Creations banner is producing the sequel of ‘Gayam’ as ‘Gayam 2’. Jagapathi Babu, who did the first part is continuing as hero in the 2nd part as well. To brief the details of the film a press meet was organized at Park Hotel in Somajiguda, Hyderabad. Ram Gopal Varma, Jagapathi Babu, Thanikella Bharani, Vimala Raman, Bharat Chowdary and C Praveen participated.

Speaking to the media Ram Gopal Varma said, “Well, when Jagapathi Babu asked me if we could do this film, I said who was watch a film now that was taken 15 years back. Later even after Praveen narrated the story, I was little hesitant to accept because I was not sure if he could reach my expectations being a new director. But when he narrated few key scenes I got confidence that he has the potential to do. This movie will give a feel of watching ‘Gayam’ to the audience. Jagapathi Babu really worked very hard for this flick. We are releasing ‘Gayam 2’ in September and release ‘Rakta Charitra’ after 2-3 weeks of this film’s release. Both films have no resemblance at all.”

Jagapathi Babu while speaking, “I was born as a hero only through ‘Gayam’. The characters in that film will continue in this sequel. In this regard we are planning a puzzle for the audience. When we approached Surendra (producer of Gayam) with this project he supported us by giving us the rights of ‘Gayam’. Despite hesitating to dub for ‘Gayam’ Ram insisted me to do and my voice has become the highlight of that film. I thank RGV for giving me one such wonderful film. I was also confident about the director when he narrated the script. When approached Bharat Chowdary with this project he instantly agreed to do it. Vimala Raman is one of the fine co-artists. There are altogether 5 songs composed by Ilayaraja. ‘Gayam 2’ is sure to become a landmark film in my career.”

Thanikella Bharani said, “Most of the artists who acted in ‘Gayam’ have acted in this film too. This movie gave me a new experience. Kota Srinivas Rao’s son Kota Prasad did the main villain in this film. But it is very unfortunate that he is not with us at present.”

Vimala Ramanm director Praveen and producer Bharat Chowdary also spoke in the press meet.
