25th February, 2019, Hyderabad - Garvi Gurjari - National Buyer Seller Meet 2019 on Handloom & Handicrafts, organized by Gujarat State Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited started with a high note today at Hitex Exhibition Center, Hyderabad amidst enthusiasm and promise for promoting Gujarat's handloom & handicraft sector. Over 100 national buyers representing various states of India are attending this 3-day mega promotional event, which is aimed at facilitating B2B meetings between the national buyers and artisans of Gujarat. Special exhibition on Gujarat's art & crafts showcasing the exquisite creativity and vibrant designs of the State of Gujarat is the unique feature of the Event.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Shri A.K. Jha, IFS, Managing Director, Gujarat State Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the Government to encourage the rich tradition of handloom & handicraft products of the State. Shri Sandeep Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Cottage & Rural Industries), Government of Gujarat added, "The artistic creations of Gujarat are products of imaginative power of the artisans, which give them a unique touch of originality. Due to this exclusive approach to production and support from the Government of Gujarat, the handloom and handicrafts sector of Gujarat is attaining new horizons in the national and global market." He added that the Government will encourage more such events so that artisans can avail national and global perspective about the markets and adapt to the national and international requirements of price, quality and design for better marketability."
Shri Shankarbhai Dalwadi, Chairman, Gujarat State Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, expressed confidence that the Meet will enable the artisans of Gujarat to explore national markets and enhance marketability of their products. He outlined some of the marketing initiatives of the State Corporation, including establishment of 25 emporia across India and the online market portal for the sale of Garvi Gurjari products.
A Seminar on Handloom & Handicrafts - The Way Forward witnessed insightful deliberations about the outlook of the handloom & handicraft sector, market trends and strategies towards effective marketing of the products.
The exhibition area was brimming with appreciation towards wide array of colorful art and crafts on display amidst enthusiastic participation of buyers and sellers in the B2B meetings.
On 25* February, the Exhibition remained open for General Visitors from 3 pm to 6 pm. For the next two day i.e. 26-27 February, general visitors can enter the Exhibition from 10 am to 5 pm to relish art & crafts of Gujarat. The entry to exhibition is free.
