Hyderabad, March 03, 2019.... As Women’s Day is fast approaching Sangeetha Studio and Smiles, the Pre-School, celebrated it in advance on Saturday night in a hotel at Himayathnagar in the city with a single objective to make it memorable for “10 Specially Challenged Girls”, aged between 18 to 23 and “20 Mothers of Differently Abled Children”.
These girls are from SRI Vidhyas Centre, Mahendra Hills. SRI Vidhyas is a Centre for the Special children. These girls include: Laasya, Bhawani, Siree, Satvika, Yasmeen, Shruthi, Varshitha,Samatha, AKSHAYA and Sailaja.
“20 Mothers of differently abled children” also shared ramp and did cat walk. They walked along with their children on the ramp to celebrate Womens’ Day, and present “Kalamkari(a dying art form)” as an Art Form and promote Sangeetha Studio’s Couture collection showcasing authentic Kalamkari handlooms along with Southern and contemporary attires.
Womens’ Days will come and go. But, this one gives them “an improved confidence”, “a feeling of being strong”, “we too can do” determination and “we are possible” kind of feelings said Sangetha, Fashion Designer of Sangeetha Studio who conceptualized the show keeping in mind the broader cause.
We used them as brand ambassadors(Models). This is an attempt to break the stereotype of how models are portrayed in the society and project Specially Challenged Girls as confident and strong individuals informed Sangeetha.
It is also a unique attempt to recall Mothers’(of differently abled chidren) sacrifices who forgot themselves on the way of changing their kids lives. Let's give a moment to appreciate their contribution announced Sangeetha.
I have a thrilling experience and unforgettable moments working with these special children and their mothers, she adds.
I have noticed that their bodies are different and not same as normal girls. While giving them makeover they were sensitive at some places on their face. Giving them make up was a challenge. It was noticed that many girls started eagerly looking their face in the mirror. They started liking themselves, their personality. They discovered beauty, beauty of being a girl shared Sangeetha.
Grooming them for the ramp walk was a big challenge. We have organized couple of trainings, instruction sessions and practice sessions in the last couple of days, she informed.
Our achievement through this novel fashion was to make parents of special children realize that their wards can do these and many more things. Now they can expect more output from them. Parents with special children need not feel bad. They are not alone in this crusade.
