Witnessed participation over 4000 under privileged govt school children Festival Initiated by the Youth for Seva
Hyderabad, March 2015: Chiguru-2015 (literally 'budding'), an inter-school cultural and literary festival held at G Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Sciences (GNUS), Mehidipatnam, Hyderabad. The atmosphere wore a festive look and kids had great fun doing what they loved.
The festival witnessed participation over 4000 under privileged govt school children from 150 YFS project locations in the city, Organized by Youth for Seva Hyderabad Chapter. The kids were extremely confident, had absolutely no stage fear and gave it their best. Students showcased 13 different competitions across in Cultural, Academic, Sports themes.
Throughout the day Children's Performed Relay Race, Running Race, Sack Race, Singing, Dancing, Rangolli, Fancy dress Quiz, Science Experiments, Just a Minute, Spelling Test, apart this traditional and art dance forms, amazing acts on stage. The eminent panel of judges including connoisseurs of art, music and dance, Yoga experts and professors from various colleges, had a hard time in choosing the winners.
Youth for Seva, National Vice President Srikanth Konda, Youth For Seva Hyderabad Chapter, President Bharat Anumolu, Coordinator, K.Sesha Aditya, Speaking on the occasion said, YFS has been organizing an festival every year "Chiguru",The participants are children studying in government and non-formal schools, where our volunteers are involved in various activities. Apart from enhancing their talents, cultural activities help build self-esteem, focus and commitment in children.
About Youth For Seva
Youth for Seva (YFS) (www.vouthforseva.org) started in April 2007 as a platform to provide volunteering opportunities for youth who want to take an active part in community development. Through this platform, YFS aims to empower youth to become positive change makers and Youth for Seva Hyderabad started in Feb 2010 and has over 11000 registered volunteers who volunteer in 150 locations in the city. These locations include Govt Schools, Slums, Orphanages, Govt Hospitals, and Disability Centers etc. Nationwide YFS has over 30,000 registered volunteers.
