The Park Hyderabad join ‘One Billion Rising’ Global Campaign

February 14, 2013 to be V-Day's Largest Day of Action Ever

The Park Hyderabad on 14lh February 2013, at 4:00 pm will join with activists around the world for ONE BILLION RISING, the largest day of action in the history of V-Day, the global activist movement to end violence against women and girls.

ONE BILLION RISING began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS. On February 14, 2013, V-Day's 15th anniversary, The Park Hyderabad will join activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities, and women and men across the world as we express their outrage, demand change, strike, dance, and RISE in defiance of the injustices women suffer, demanding an end at last to violence against women.
"When we started V-Day 14 years ago, we had the outrageous idea that we could end violence against women," said Ensler. "Now, we are both stunned and thrilled to see that this global action is truly escalating and gaining force, with union workers, parliament members, celebrities, and women of all backgrounds coming forward to join the campaign. When we come together on February 14, 2013 to demand an end to violence against women and girls it will be a truly global voice that will rise up."

We at The Park, Hyderabad will be actively creating awareness around this campaign through our various communication channels to invite more and more women to be a part of this revolutionary Campaign.

On Valentine's Day i.e. 14lh Feb 2013, we're inviting women and all those who love them to WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP and DEMAND an end to this violence.

ONE BILLION RISING will move the earth, activating women and men across every country. We want the world to see our collective strength, our numbers and our solidarity across borders.

We'll be having Dr. Savita Date Menon (Sr VP, Clinical Psychologist and Wellness Specialist at Apollo Wellness LWRx Int Ltd) for a talk session on women wellness & fitness along with Ms Maaya Bhoopal who will be having an interactive session with all the ladies and the employees of the hotel.

Apart from the above, we have Microsoft who's joined hands with us in support of this noble cause. We'll have developers from Microsoft to give a demo on some smart phones apps which have been specially designed by Microsoft for Women Safety and Security. All this will be followed by a Flash mob conceptualized and organized by dance group Twists & Turns.
