Silk Mark Organisation of India, Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India launched in 2004 to create awareness among the silk consumers on importance of pure silk through Silk Mark - An assurance of pure silk, has completed 10 years in the service of the silk consumers, traders and weavers winning accolades from the consumer community.
It is required to put continuous efforts for our Silk industry to match with the international standards. The consumers, traders & mostly manufacturers have to come together in enhancing the quality standards apart from other important parameters like price, timely service. In this long journey of a decade in service of the nation to build strong base for silk industry, Silk Mark has more than 2700 members across the country, serving the silk admirers with pure and quality silks. Silk Mark has continuously put efforts to create awareness among the people by way of providing them with opportunity to know many varieties and types of silks from across the country by conducting Silk Mark Expos throughout the country.
Since ages Silk has been synonymous to women. Contribution of women in flourishing of Sericulture Industry is significantly high. As the major part of the end products in our country are sarees, one can conclude the Indian Sericulture Industry is "FOR WOMEN. BY THE WOMEN, OF THE WOMEN". Indian Sericulture Industry is one of the fast growing cottage industries, providing livelihood for more than 70 lakh families. It is responsibility of everyone that the industry should be protected from unfair trade practices and to achieve a Brand Image at national and international platform for sustained growth rate.
In order to focus the attention of silk lovers upon the importance of Silk Mark in protecting the consumers as well as the artisans throughout the country weaving classics in designs and colours in silks, Silk Mark is organising a cultural event Srimathi Silk Mark - 2014 pageant to get together different traditions on a platform. Silk Mark Organisation of India is very pleased that there was overwhelming response from the silk loving consumers from which 60 contestants have been finalized for the today's auditions. Basing on their formal interview by the selection panel 20 finalists will be participating in the GRAND FINALE slated to be organized on 25th Sept'2014 at the Auditorium of Shilpakala Vedika, Near Cyber Towers, Madhapur. The winners will be rewarded with prizes and need be, services will be utilized in propagating the importance of Silk Mark among the populace.
Also, Silk lovers of city of Hyderabad are requested to visit the popular Silk Mark Expo - 2014 Hyderabad which will be at organized from 23-29th September 2014 coinciding with festivals of Dusserah and Diwali. The expo will be showcasing many varieties and colours of silk products representing 25 silk clusters from more than 15 silk producing states from north to south and from East to West. The main objective of the expo is to provide only 100% pure silks with Silk Mark labels supported by the testing facilities apart from facilitating Silk Loving Clientele with varieties of silks from all over the silk weaving clusters of the nation under one roof. In order to create supportive atmosphere to learn about Indian silks, there will be exciting prizes for the consumers through lucky draw coupons and silk identification games.
