As announced, the much anticipated felicitation function of Padma Bhushan Chiranjeevi was held at Gachibowli indoor stadium. The glittering and colorful venue saw the arrival various present and past stars of the Telugu film industry. The stadium was packed, but people and stars kept coming even as the hour grew late. The entire show was given a live telecast by Zee Telugu channel. The event, which started two hours late than the scheduled time, opened to the soft voice of singer Sunitha, followed by the lamp lightning ceremony where in actress Suhasini did the honors, this was further followed by a spell binding classical dance performance by actress and classical dancer Sobhana. The megastar walked in, a vision in black; along with wife Smt Surekha Chiranjeevi, a half hour after the function started. The event was hosted by Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao and Sai Kumar. Here are some of the memorable moments of the evening, which saw the Megastar in an emotional state.

The first to speak was producer Edida Nageswara Rao, "Chiranjeevi won Nandi awards for two of my films, Swayamkrushi and Apadhbhandhavudu both of which were also dubbed into Russian. Swayamkrushi is the only film that was screened at the Russian film festival".

After a dance performance by Sakshi Shivanand to some of the popular songs from Chiranjeevi's films, host Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao invited, one by one eight of Chiranjeevi's most prominent heroines to speak about their experiences with Chiranjeevi. He called them Ashtalakshmi ( Eight forms of Laxmi).

The first to take to the mic was Sridevi who was very modest in her speech "I am very proud of him (Chiranjeevi). And am very happy to have been a part of such an illustrious film industry".

Jayasudha was invited next, In my first film with Chiranjeevi, I was not paired opposite him. I had already done some 20 films by that time. He sat quietly in one corner of the room and when I entered he did not say anything beyond a "hi". At that time I thought that he was a very proud man" smilingly she continued "I thought the same about Rajnikanth also. But now Rajnikanth is a Super hero in Tamilnadu and Chiranjeevi is a Megastar here. I wish that he will also be honored with the Bharat Ratna soon".

"I am the only person who worked with Chiranjeevi as a technician before becoming his heroine" a beaming Suhasini said "I was a chatter box then and he would always plead with me not to talk so much and whenever he wore a white shirt would jokingly tell me not to make it red by eating his head off" asking for Chiranjeevi's permission she sang a few lines of their popular song "Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju".

After Jayapradha spoke a few kind words about Chiranjeevi, a very excited and beaming Radhika went on stage and demanded that who organized this show, which she should have organized "Chiranjeevi is my hero" she said "We acted in the most number of films together. I was already a heroine when he started with movies. We first met when he came to meet his friend Sudhakar, who was my hero in that film. He was a very humble and shy person while I had all the airs of a heroine. He is what he is today because of his perseverance, hard work and god fearing nature. And his up bringing is one of the reasons for it for which his parents are to be credited. He reached this stage because he followed the rule of ABCD. A for Ambition, B for Bold, C for Creativity and confidence and D for Dedication. His success so far is only the first half of his life. I wish him an equally successful second half of his life. He is gifted with good health. I am very proud of him and wish that he will win the Bharat Ratna and the Dada Saheb Phalke award very soon. Jai Chiranjeeva" .

Radhika had to stop her speech in between because of the Chief Guest Amitab Bachchan, whose arrival Radhika herself announced. Dressed in royal blue the Big B was accorded a warm welcome by the Megastar himself. Following a brief recital of Chiranjeevi's life before and after entering the film Industry and after a sizzling performance by Allu Arjun and Reema Sen, Most of the dignitaries and actors present were invited on stage to form a part of the felicitation group. Finally Chiranjeevi and Amitab Bachchan were called on.

"This is a wonderful celebration for a great actor like Chiranjeevi", Amitab Bachchan said "He invited me three times till date. The first time for a success function of his film, which I could not attend. Then for his daughters wedding which also I could not attend because of my illness and now for this function. And as they say, third time lucky, I am deeply honored to be here at this felicitation of his. Chiranjeevi is a man of great humanity. It is very easy to become a successful person but very difficult to maintain that success. Due to his dedication and humility he has reached the top position in the industry and I am happy that he is doing his share of service to the society through his blood and eye banks" on a different note he continued "there is a general myth that Hindi film industry is the biggest in India. But in truth Telugu Film Industry is the biggest film industry in India with the largest number of film being made in Telugu, per year. Even commercially the Telugu film industry is much stronger than the Hindi film industry" in his final words to Chiranjeevi he said "I wish him an everlasting and successful life. He is the reigning king of the Indian cinema and may he win the Bharat Ratna in future".

Chiranjeevi thanked Amitab Bachchan for gracing the occasion and went on recite a Hindi poem, written by Harivanshrai Bachchan (a noted poet and Amitab Bachchan's father) which tells that "People who win the hearts of other people are the true achievers" he went on to say "In 1982 when Mr. Amitab got injured during the shooting of his film 'Coolie' my mother was one of the millions of Indians who prayed for him. In fact my parents performed a Rudrabhishekam at a Shiva temple in Nellore, for his recovery. He is like a member of our family. A big brother to all of us" an emotional Chiranjeevi took Amitab's blessings by touching his feet.

After this the film industry as a whole felicitated the Megastar. This was followed by yet another inspiring dance performance by Sobhana. After the performance Chiranjeevi himself felicitated Sobhana, who also received the Padmasri this year. She said "Chiranjeevi is an epitome of Humility. Once when we were shooting in Kashmir, he immediately sent away one guy who commented on me during the shoot".

Radha, another very prominent heroine of Chiranjeevi, was invited on stage "After quitting the film Industry 14 years ago, this is the first film function that I am attending. I met Chiranjeevi at his house before coming here. He asked whether I regret quitting films. I don't regret quitting acting but I miss the crowds here. I was famous for my dances with him. The credit for that goes to him. He brought out the best in me. Padma Bhushan is a very fitting and deserving award for Chiranjeevi".

"I came here to see India's top two stars on the same stage" Tamil hero Vikram said "Chiranjeevi is a demigod. He is like a friend, brother and a great source of inspiration to me. He always has very encouraging words for up coming actors which gives them a lot of confidence".

A very excited Chiranjeevi took to the stage spontaneously after he witnessed dance performances by three young physically handicapped men, who despite their impairments entertained the crowds with their energizing dance steps to songs of the Megastar. "I am very happy to see that despite their handicap. These people have come here to dance to my songs and have done such a good job of it" a beaming Chiranjeevi said "after seeing their dance I felt this immense need to felicitate them. Because I am a dancer I know what kind of hard work and dedication goes in to dancing. With both legs many people find it difficult to dance but these people have shown that nothing is impossible".

"Initially only MAA was supposed to organize this function" Actor and Movie Artists Association President Mohan Babu said "but later the entire Telugu film industry chipped in to organize this show. Chiranjeevi and I acted in a lot of hit films, together, like Kirayi Rowdilu, Billa Ranga etc. but after a small misunderstanding we developed a communication gap. But after Alllu Arvind insisted to act in Chakravarthy we cleared everything. But this is the first time that I was invited to a function of Chiranjeevi's. He is older to me and I respect him a lot. Chiranjeevi's name will be immortallised".

Pawan Kalyan followed up on Mohan Babu's speech "I got my power because of Chiranjeevi. The word power has become synonymous with him. When I entered the industry he told me that hard work, honesty and courage are the means to success. He loves everybody even those people who try to harm him. He cares for the poor and shares his love with everybody. His compassion for the common man led him to start the eye and blood banks. And that same compassion will make him do more service in the future. On behalf of his fans I would like to tell my brother that all of us are ready to follow him in whatever path he chooses and also to give our lives for him and his causes".
