Nandamuri Balakrishna swept the Nandi award in the Best Actor category for his remarkable performance in ‘Simha’. Balakrishna played dual role in ‘Simha’ and the way he portrayed both the roles was credible.
Malayalam actress Nithya Menon entered the Telugu film industry with ‘Ala Modalaindi’ and bagged the prestigious Nandi award as Best Actress. Her role as won her tremendous critical acclaim.
‘Vedam’ gets Nandi in the category of Best Film. The film struck gold for being the most critically acclaimed film. The best director award went to P Sunil Kumar Reddy for ‘Ganga Putrulu’. The way the director dealt the subject of fishermen’s lives has earned him an award.
‘Simha’, ‘Ye Maya Chesave’, ‘Ganga Putrulu, ‘Maryada Ramanna’ and ‘Varudu’ bagged three each.
