'Pushpa' technician Resul Pookutty describing 'Roudram Ranam Rudhiram' as a gay love story has shown that many in Tollywood are too thin-skinned. MM Keeravani's intemperate reaction to Resul's viewpoint is both cheap and shocking. He wrote Resul's name as 'POOKUtty' on Twitter, only to delete it later.
Keeravani can love 'RRR' and SS Rajamouli all he wants, but a below-the-belt taunt was unwarranted.
Resul had written the comment 'Gay love story' when a less-known Bollywood filmmaker described 'RRR' as garbage. Actually, Resul insulted homosexuals, although he thinks that he was criticizing 'RRR'. Even if he has hurled a barb at 'RRR', why should anyone get worked up? People dislike all sorts of classics. Even James Cameron's 'Avatar' has got critics. Many don't understand the hype around the 'KGF' movies. A legendary Hollywood director made fun of the 'Marvel' movies in an interview a couple of years ago.
The real problem with Resul's view is that he blindly aped a Western viewpoint. Keeravani and 'Baahubali' producer Shobu Yarlagadda could have asked Resul why he should parrot an alien viewpoint when nobody in India thinks 'RRR' is a gay love story.
