K Viswanath, the legendary filmmaker, passed away in February last year. His family members have instituted the Kasinadhuni Viswanath Award in his memory.
This year, the family has conferred two students of Annapurna College of Film & Media with the award. The intention was to appreciate the young filmmaking talent. The awards have been given for their exceptional skills in the areas of sound design and direction. K Nagendranath, the son of the late filmmaker, announced the award. On the occasion, Viswanath's bond with the legendary ANR was recalled.
"By conferring the award, we seek to recognize the talent of the students who have exhibited exceptional proficiency in the fields of Sound Design and Direction. Each year, the award will carry a grant of Rs 25,000," a statement from Viswanath's family says.
Annapurna College of Film and Media was founded in 2011 by Sri Akkineni Nageswara Rao and the Akkineni family.
K Viswanath was known for classic blockbusters like 'Sankarabharanam' (1980) and 'Sagara Sangamam' (1983).
