Poor response for Dhanush's 'Raayan' in Telugu

'Raayan', written, acted and directed by Dhanush, was released in theatres this Friday. While the critical acclaim is unanimous from Tamil film critics, in Telugu, the action drama has met with negative reviews from certain quarters.

The Telugu audience are finding 'Raayan' somewhat funny. The backstory about the genesis of the rivalry between two family members has been described as unconvincing.

Critics have described many scenes as random in the movie. "After a point, the screenplay enters the zone of elevations," said a reviewer on YouTube.

Shockingly, AR Rahman's music has received a mixed response. If some say that his background score is top-notch, others say that it is muted in the name of being understated. Probably, this has to do with a gap in the tastes between those born in the 1980s and those born in the 2000s.

Political criticism:

Critic Ragadi says that 'Raayan' is not likeable for another reason. "Tamil cinema politics has become cliche at this point. One can smell the fishy revisionism from a mile away; it's neither well written nor good, and it doesn't even make sense anymore. It's a ruse that's been carried over for too long; it's almost a bust now," he writes.

Dhanush's 'Raayan' is unlikely to become even an average performer in Telugu.
