Rakul Preet Singh was supposed to make her Telugu debut opposite Prabhas. Back in the early 2010s, Dil Raju's production house and director Dasaradh roped her in as a female lead in 'Mr. Perfect'. Rakul shot for a couple of portions for about five days. After watching the rushes, the makers decided to drop her and pick someone who was familiar to the audience. Since Kajal Aggarwal had already acted in a blockbuster like 'Magadheera' and was suited for playing romantic roles, she was picked for the heroine's role.
In a recent interview, director Dasaradh said that Rakul looked great on screen. So, it was not about lack of talent but lack of her suitability for the role. Had Rakul debuted opposite someone like Prabhas, her career would have taken off faster. Rakul later went on to act opposite Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR and a few other big names like Ram Charan.
'Mr. Perfect' also featured Taapsee Pannu and others. The script was first offered to Allu Arjun.
